Known as “Daigo” or “The Beast”
Holds a Guinness World Record for being the “most successful player in major tournaments for Street Fighter”
Before Street Fighter 4, Daigo was a famous player for 2D fighting games such as the Street Fighter 2 series, Vampire Hunter/Savior, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, and more.
Made one of the most sensational comeback wins in fighting game history at Evolution 2004’s Street Fighter 3: Third Strike tournament, where he was on the verge of defeat against Justin Wong. Justin Wong only needed to deal a sliver of damage to win, so he initiated Chun-Li’s Super Art to do enough chip damage to finish off Daigo. Instead of trying to avoid it, Daigo “parried” every single hit of the Super Art and punished Justin Wong with a powerful combo to snatch victory.
Daigo retired from fighting game competitions for a while but came out of retirement with the release of Street Fighter 4
