Capcom Pro Tour 2016 Closing Remarks

Street Fighter 4 was a catalyst in growing the competitive fighting game community and will have a special place in history. The release of Street Fighter 5 this year for the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour season was the beginning of a new chapter, and what an exciting one it was! The competitive community continues to grow, with several events this year having participants numbering in the thousands. Evolution 2016 had over five thousand players and the Finals were broadcast on ESPN! Veteran players adopted new characters and new players rose up to challenge them. The grand finale to the season, Capcom Cup 2016, was sensational with many surprises and upsets! It was a great year for everyone involved; from the organizers who put on the events to the players who competed as well as the spectator who watched it all. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2017!

With this post we would like to thank everyone who helped make the Capcom Pro Tour what it is today. The tournament organizers and their staffs deserve praise for their hard work and dedication. Thank you to all of the players who competed and made it all so thrilling to watch as well as the sponsors that made it possible for many of these players to travel. As always, a heartfelt thank you to all of the fans out there who supported the events, players, and the Capcom Pro Tour by watching events, donating funds to help a favorite player travel, and/or for buying the CPT DLC to help the Pro Tour grow in the future. None of this would be possible without these great people and we cannot appreciate it enough.

We hope to see you again next year for more great moments.

Now, as we sign off for the season, here are some amazing photos from Capcom Cup 2016.
